Eden

– A Poem by Zesizwe Ngubane

You kissed me,
then words we knew not how to speak,
finally tumbled off of our tongues,
slipping into each others mouths.
We let them gently swirl,
timidly acquainting ourselves with the taste of new knowledge flooding our senses.
This ancient language born from our palettes, gives a lilt of truth to our voice.
Deaf to the world, we only speak one tongue.
With it, all that needed saying, said.
Yet, no sound has left the confines of our cavern; our lips the guardians of Eden contained within.
