The objectives of Ubumbo are to operate and function for the involvement, promotion, organisation and coordination of activities of a sporting, recreational and social nature. Ubumbo aims to achieve the following:

Promote, encourage and foster involvement in sport for the benefit of members including but not limited to the broader black sporting community at all levels. Conduct and support the education of its members and the broader community on the challenges faced by society by creating & brainstorming ways of responding through organized activities equivalent to this aim.
Engage in activism and mobilisation together with communities, individuals, corporates and other sports clubs and civil society bodies with similar objects, drawing upon the network, experience and intellectual resources of Ubumbo and the above-mentioned groups and institutions.
Learn about the challenges facing our country, continent and world, and about how sport can underpin the development and social transformation.
Express itself respectfully and firmly in the public domain, such that it becomes a reputable voice on matters affecting development and transformation in South African sport and society.
