– A Poem by Noluthando Buthelezi
The darkness lingers as the sun sets
Rays of light penetrate the spaces
Between the trees.
Fading
The bright setting turns red
As my mind journeys in search of places
When my joy felt real
Racing
Goosebumps on my skin
At the touch of the forest’s hand
The atmosphere is heavy
Steadily
I tread carefully
Else an avalanche of gloom
Will come tumbling down
Voices ring in my head
Like a wolve’s full moon howl
And I’ll be left stranded in my thoughts
With a piercingly silent sound.
