– A Poem by Noluthando Buthelezi
I’ve stumbled, I’ve fallen
I’ve failed, I’ve broken
I’ve tripped and slipped
In and out of my worst nightmares
My fears took over
My worried got stronger
My doubts prolonged
I spiralled into a vicious cycle.
Under the midnight sky
In the shadows of my fears
On the way to my deepest thoughts
I dwell,
I rush,
Searching for something longed for
Following the traces left by my desires
Without remembrance of what they were.
Under the dark sky
In the corners of my subconscious
On the journey to introspection
I dwell,
I seek answers to questions unknown
Searching for my dreams and goals
In the hopes of acquiring closure.
Under the moonlit sky
In the forests of my imagination
Unlocking the power that is within me
I rise,
I bid farewell to the fear that held me hostage
I walk away from the doubt
And unleash the conqueror within me.
Into the breaking dawn
In the chambers of my wildest dreams
At the peak of my achievements
I rise,
I fall into victory
And I stand eye-to-eye with prosperity
I’ve stumbled, I’ve fallen
I’ve failed, I’ve broken
I’ve tripped and slipped
I grew and I’m wiser
I stood and I’m taller
I rose and I’m stronger.
