– A Poem by Noluthando Buthelezi
Seconds have passed
Minutes are gone
Hours are lost
And days are none
The clock is ticking and it can’t be undone.
My actions have suffocated me
The battle is not won
Every step I’ve taken
Has become a step further from love
The clock is ticking
And it can’t be undone.
Opportunities have appeared
Then disappeared
My own heart I have punctured
With a sharp ended spear
The clock is ticking
And the end is near.
I know not my fate
And that is my biggest fear
If only I could predict what would be
If only I had a fortune teller ear
Yet, the clock is still ticking
And the end is near.
I am who I am
As a consequence of my past
Trying to always be a step ahead
So that I don’t fall last
The clock is ticking
And it’s ticking really fast.
I feel lost in my own thoughts and my mind feels so vast
I’ve become a prisoner of my mind
At a very high cost
The clock is ticking
And it’s ticking so fast.
I’m continuously asking myself questions,
Mainly why
Life has dropped me down below
From an ecstatic high
The clock is ticking
And it really tells no lie.
